About Caskfive
A software company in Huntersville, North Carolina, founded in 2022. The mission fits on a sticker: Build software that's genuinely useful and refreshingly simple.
What is Caskfive?
Caskfive makes software for collecting wireless data in the field, and builds custom software for other companies. The flagship is Network Survey, an open source Android app that has shipped continuously since 2018, four years before the company existed to put its name on it.
The products share one opinion: most software fails by doing too much. Every Caskfive product does one job, says plainly what that job is, and stays out of your way while it does it.
Who is behind it?
Caskfive is Christian Rowlands. He created Network Survey, has maintained it through every Android release since, and founded Caskfive in 2022 to build products and take on custom software work full time.
He has worked on wireless protocol software for more than twenty years, most of it on the mobile and backend systems that carry the data. The LinkedIn link below has the history.
The support email reaches him directly. The person who answers your question about MQTT message formats is the person who designed them.
One person? Really?
Yes. It's the first thing anyone asks before depending on a small vendor, so here are facts instead of reassurance.
Network Survey has shipped release after release and survived every Android version along the way. Support email goes to the person who wrote the code. And the products are the business, not a side project.
None of that is a promise. It's a record, and the release history on GitHub is there to check it against.
